Apple announced the iOS 8 during it’s keynote at Monday’s WWDC that came with a few new major changes including third-party keyboard support, interactive notifications, spotlight suggestions and much more.
iOS 8 is available as a beta download for developers registered in the Dev Center that costs $99 per year. However, it will be released to the public as a free software update during fall.
The software brings many new changes and is a major improvement from iOS 7. The new features include spotlight suggestions that will provide you with Wikipedia results, App Store results, music recommendations and more. Then there’s the tap to talk feature in Messages that allows you to quickly record and send audio to the recipient, an attachment gallery, location sharing option and Do Not Disturb mode is also available in Message app along with other new features.
Then there’s the interactive notifications feature that allows you to interact with notifications and reply to messages, tweet etc., safari tab view mode on iPads, Quicktype keyboard that displays suggested words, healthkit and homekit and much more.
Apple has dropped iOS 8 support for iPhone 4 and the new OS is available for iPhone 4s and onwards, iPad 2 and up, all iPad Mini models and the 5th gen iPod Touch. The software is available for registered developers as a beta version while it will be released to the public in fall, usually in September when the company launches a new hardware.
