There was a time when Apple iPhone was considered to be one of the securest phones. Its iOS and wall garden approach used to make it secure. But the security experts and enthusiasts have spill water on the myth a long time ago by pointing out a number of bugs and security loopholes in the device.  Hence, even the greatest technological device, the iPhone is not free from security issues. There is handful of vulnerabilities that every user must be aware of in order to prevent the communication as well as data from risk.

Is your iPhone iOS upgraded?

Do you think that your iPhone is free from the software and security vulnerabilities?  Well think again. Even iOS 7 has received 3 updates. If you are not using the latest iOS 7.0.3 or you haven’t upgraded your iPhone yet then you should better do it right away because the previous version of the latest operating system even have security loopholes.  iOS 7.0 can let you view the notification center even if your phone’s screen is locked.  This loophole was covered with the release of the 7.0.1.  Another loophole was discovered even with 7.0.1. Any individual can bypass the passcode through the control center. This problem was resolved with the release of another version of the operation system.  The screen lock bug is not going to provide you any kind of relief. This bug will allow the unauthorized users to gain unsolicited access to the locked phone’s address book, communications, and even more data. That is never good for any individual because we all wish to keep our information highly confidential.

Is phone is secured even if it’s locked?

There are a lot more software vulnerabilities that can stab you in the back especially if your iPhone comes into anyone else’s hands. Safari has an auto fill feature that can save your username, password, and credit card information. The software also has the ability to store cookies and history that can make your online experience much more smooth and fast.  When such information is stored in your phone, then you cannot afford to let anyone else access your phone at any cost. The unauthorized user can access your bank account, mailing account, and social network browsing. All your internet browsing activities will be revealed and someone else might steal your credit card information too. What can you do to protect your phone? Clear the cookies and history every time you are done browsing the internet.  That would be really annoying because what can be worse than not being able to use your own phone your way.  There are plenty of apps too that can help the cybercriminals to steal your confidential information.

Are iPhone apps meant for your protection?

Luckily, Safari has got the fraudulent warning feature that can protect you against phishing.  But this will be a long procedure because you will have to send all the URLs to Apple and then wait for them to be verified.  If you are not comfortable with sharing your browsing behavior with Apple then this feature will be useless for you.  Honestly, there will be very few people, who would be comfortable to use this feature.

iOS 7 has a new feature. It allows the maps to remember those locations, which are frequently visited by you. This feature allows Apple to track your favorite places. Have you ever thought what if Apple decides to share your information with National Security Agency? Are you ok with it?  You can disable this frequent location feature if you don’t like it. Just visit settings and go to privacy section to disable it.

How to get rid of the vulnerabilities?

It seems like all those features that are included in iPhone that are meant for your security can also be used against you. That is why many of the individuals need to be careful about what they want to share and what they don’t. How can you possibly protect your iPhone from software security vulnerabilities if you are not supposed to use these security features? Someone might hack your iPhone very easily.  People involved in Cybercrimes are very good at destroying the peace from the lives of people.  How can you possibly secure your iPhone?

CheckMarx vulnerability coverage can help you in overcoming the software security vulnerabilities. You can take its help to protect your iPhone.
