For users that can remember VirtualHome, they’ll remember it as the first ever jailbreak tweak that was released for Touch ID. Apart from being the first, VirtualHome has remained as the most popular Touch ID tweak. Due to popular demand, tweaks for iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 will be released very soon.
If you have been living a rock and know nothing about Virtual Home 8, it is actually self-explanatory. Just as its name suggests, this tweak enables iOS users to make use of Touch ID as their Home button on their device. After they have installed the jailbreak tweak, they simply have to place their finger on the Touch ID/Home button so that the app switcher will launch. This helps device owners use their Home button less. As a result, they get to minimize wear and tear of the button. While using an app, you can also tap on the Home button to lead you back to the Home screen. This way, you won’t have to click the Home button anymore.
A locked iPhone device will require the use of a tweak with a feature known as QuickUnlock. This helps the iOS user save their time and trouble of tapping on the Sleep/Wake or Home button just so the device can be reverted back to active mode. Doing this will immediately direct the user to his Home Screen. All it takes is just to place the finger on the Touch ID/Home button.
Virtual Home developer, moeseth, has tweeted that the iOS 8-iOS 8.1 compatible version of the tweak has already been submitted. Once it becomes available, VirtualHome8 will be available for $1.49 on Cydia. Unlike its previous version, the new tool will no longer be free. While this may be a disappointment, you can show your support for the tweak by purchasing it. After all, the tweak can help you save trouble from a faulty or busted Home button.
