One of the most popular topics on iPhonecaptain.com these days is whether or not the iOS device has been jailbroken prior to purchase. The next thing is whether or not the iOS device is currently jailbroken.
Are You Jailbroken??
Cydia is one of the main reasons I was attracted to Apple years back. Today jailbreaking iOS devices seem to be coming back in popularity. Jailbreaking will not make your iOS device junk. In fact, this is the primary reason I enjoy jailbreaking is to customize my iOS devices the way I choose to not Apple.
Two Simple and Fast ways to check if your iOS device is currently Jailbroken or has ever been jailbroken at any time.
- Look for the Cydia icon on the desktop. Tap the icon to see if Cydia will actually load or if it’s just a shortcut they have added.
- Open Settings > General > VPN & DEVICE MANAGEMENT. Once inside here you see any type of profiles that have been installed on the iOS device to jailbreak. Now in order to be jailbroken the Cydia profile will be listed in this section.
Bet you had no idea it was this simple. Should you wish to remove the jailbreak you must restore the device to factory settings. This will require users to download the ipsw file they will need to restore back to the original factory state.
Apple will only look for the most obvious jailbroken sightings. Should you need service work from the APPLES store users will need to restore it beforehand otherwise Apple can deny customers warranty work if the device is jailbroken. So be sure to follow the restored video below.
