iOS 16 Brings Battery Drain.  Tips to Improve Battery Life After iOS 16

Some users have reported battery issues since the update to iOS 16.  However, not all users are having issues with the battery depleting rather faster than normal.  Most users can agree the battery could be better for all the firmware releases. 

However, it never seems to fail when we get a new firmware update we get these complaints with battery drain.  After a bit of reading online, it seems developers think this comes from the indexing and cloud syncing which is what causes the battery drain.  This seems to make more sense than anything for the battery drain.

Apple has already confirmed battery issues and has stated it would be sending out an update next week.  Until Apple gets the issue resolved we have a few tricks you can try.

Three Tips to Improve Battery Life for iOS 16

1. One of the sure ways to improve. Battery life is disabling the Haptic KEYBOARD feature which Apple included in the iOS 16 release.  Open settings > Sounds & Haptic  From here users can disable the vibration and much more to save battery life
2. Spotlight Search- definitely one of the most powerful search functions on the iOS device.  Users can turn this off completely or by the app.  It allows users to search contacts, email messages, iMessages, maps,   photos, and more.  It’s obvious the search feature must scan the entire iOS hard drive with each search.  However, it must also keep these same items indexed in the manner in which it can find what users are searching for.  I would recommend disabling this feature if you have battery life issues.  Users can disable this inside Settings > Siri & Search.  It can be set by each app or completely disabled. Disable each application by opening “show content in search”.   This will stop the iOS d device from indexing, therefore, saving battery life.
3. Users having battery ISSUES may need to turn off the Find, Merge, and Duplicates finder in the Photo App.  This has become an extremely powerful application itself.  The features offered by the photo app require indexing all your photos and anyone who ever set up an iPhone the first time can understand just how long it takes to download photos or work with them in any way requires extreme battery power.
