AppLocal is a free app which offers users a simple approach for finding apps in the app store by using location. AppLocal is a location based app discovery system for iOS users. Users will be able to find apps of stores located close to them as opposed to downloading apps for a store on the opposite side of the US. AppLocale is very small in size weighing in at only 4.7 MB. This application takes up very little storage on the device or in the cloud. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.3 or later. Unfortunately, the application has not been updated to use the full four inch screen of the new iPhone 5. It leaves a small space across the top and bottom which could be useful screen real estate especially in the maps section of the application.
AppLocal requires the compass and GPS services be enabled on the iPhone in order to properly function. With only a quick search my device was able to find several stores within close driving distance of my location. It displays a brief description of the stores application including distance, price, and contact for the store. The app is broken down into a couple different categories across the bottom of the screen. Applocal shows the stores on a map and List shows the different store apps available. Simply choose the application you desire to install and tap.
Applocal makes it easier to find needed applications or more useful applications to install on your iPhone and other iOS devices. Purchasing the iPhone is only a small part of being able to enjoy it efficiently. Users must find applications which are useful and they enjoy using on their iOS devices.
