Since jailbreaking seems to be getting more code involved or in other words harder with each new Jailbreak, the topic of converting deb files to IPA comes up more often. Therefore, we have decided to create a step by step guide which shows how to do this. It’s moderately simple but does require being able to follow directions or instructions.
The first thing we need to clarify is you will need a Mac or PC, the deb file to be converted, and 7-Zip (Windows users) and The Unarchiver (Mac users). Both of these are used identically throughout the tutorial. So just replace the one you are using to follow along below. We will be trying to show both in the tutorial below.
How To Convert Deb files to IPA file using Windows
- Download 7-Zip here or The Unarchiver here
- Download the deb file needed to convert. We will be using Kodi 18 download deb file here

Follow the Step by Step Guide Below to Convert deb files to IPA files
Below is the Windows version using 7-Zip for extraction. Plus we are using Kodi 18 as the .deb file for converting from .deb to IPA file
Step 1: Right Click on .deb file Kodi18 that you downloaded earlier Select 7-zip > Extract the files
Step 2: Open the Folder created from extraction and you will find a data.tar file. Simply extract data.tar file using Click > 7-zip > Extract Files. Remember to right click and extract
Step 3: Now there will be data folder inside data.tar file inside the folder.
Step 4: Open the data folder and open Applications folder. Here you will find a folder called Kodi.app.
Step 5: Now you will need to create a new folder called “Payload”. You should have 2 folders, the Payload you created and Kodi.app folder. Make sure that the P is capitalized in Payload.
-
Step 6: Now drag the Kodi.app folder and drop it on top of the Payload folder. This will copy Kodi inside the Payload folder
Step 7: Next Right-click the Payload folder and Click 7-zip > Add to the archive option.
-
Step 8: This is a very important step. Here is where you name the ipa file. You will see a new will pop up now. Here you have to make sure the proper settings are in order. Be certain that the Archive format is set to zip and name the archive ending with .ipa . It will look like this, Kodi.ipa. Now click OK.
Now you should have your kodi.ipa file ready for installation. This should have the ipa file needed now for installing Kodi on iOS 10. Simply follow our guide from here for sideloading apps on iOS 10
