One of the most awaited features on the Apple Watch is its ability to be used for Apple Pay. The idea of being able to make payments by simply flicking your wrist is a truly exciting thought. This is one reason why plenty of users have decided to purchase an Apple Watch device in the first place. If this is something you have been excited about, you need to know how to setup Apple Pay on your Apple Watch first.
Before you get into setting up Apple Pay on your Watch, you need to have these things first:
- An Apple Watch paired with your iPhone
- iPhone running iOS 8.2 or later
- Your selected region should be United States
- A supported credit or debit card from one of the participating banks
You should also have these prepared ahead of time:
- Passcode protect your Apple Watch
- Switch on Wrist Detection on Apple Watch
- Enable Bluetooth on your iPhone
- Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi or a cellular network
- Sign in to the same iCloud account on your Apple Watch and iPhone
Once you’ve got these things ready, you can proceed onto this how-to guide to setting up Apple Pay on your Apple Watch.
- Unlock your Apple Watch
- Open Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Tap on the ‘My Watch’ tab on the bottom.
- Tap on the option that says ‘Passbook & Apple Pay’.
- Tap on ‘Add Credit or Debit Card’.
- Tap on Next.
- Enter the security code of the card you currently use on iTunes. If you wish to use a different card, you can choose ‘Add a different credit or debit card.’ *If your credit or debit card is not supported, you’ll be asked to scan a new card using your iPhone’s camera.
- The new card you enter will be listed as ‘Activating’ until the verification process is complete. Your bank will ask you to provide additional verification before approving your card for the service.
- Once your card has successfully been verified, you will receive a notification on your Apple Watch that it is ready for Apple Pay.
