iOS 16 Hidden Features You Don’t Want to Miss
Apple released iOS 16 over the past few days. There are definitely more than just a few things users should be AWARE of before driving into it. One of my favorite apps is the camera and boy have it had a few things added some users just may not even be aware of without us pointing them out. Never fear iPhonecaptain Blog has you covered for all your iOS needs and questions. Find something you need answers to just drop us a comment below.
- Duplicate Photos – Now who doesn’t fill their photos app with duplicate photos? This Will no longer be an issue after updating to iOS 16. Users will be able to find and remove duplicate photos with no issue at all. The iOS 16 Photos app will let you know if you have multiple duplicate photos and gives users the opportunity to delete unwanted ones to save space. Duplicate photos will be listed in a new “Duplicates” album that appears inside the photo app if you have duplicates to get rid of when wanted.
- AirPods Updates – The developers have made it much easier to change settings on AirPods by adding its own section inside the app itself. iOS 16? also includes a Spatial Audio feature for each individual own listening enjoyment. It uses the TrueDepth camera to scan ears and provides a unique listening experience tuned just for you and the exact way you prefer. Of course, this is all in the best scenario so keep that in mind.

- Face ID in Landscape Mode – iPhone running firmware iOS 16 supports Face ID in landscape mode, making it easier to unlock the iPhone? when it’s not held in the standard vertical portrait orientation. The only issue with this new feature is limited to the iPhone 13 and newer.
- Hidden and Deleted Photo Protection – Now this is definitely a feature that should eliminate lots of swearing or exceed worse. In the new ?iOS 16?, you need to authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID by users before the Hidden and Recently Deleted photo albums can be seen inside the app. Users can feel safe should someone else gain access to their device while it’s unlocked. These albums will not be accessible and locked.
- WiFi Password – How many have cursed every time you need the wifi password? Thanks to iOS 16 users will no longer have to remember so many different passwords. Inside the ?iPhone?‘s WiFi settings under the settings app, users will be able to find and see the password for the network they are looking to find.
- Haptic Feedback for Keyboard – iOS 16? offers users a setting for haptic wheeler typing. Users will be able to feel them physically as they are typing their messages and more. The vibrations are for each touch of the key, offering users a physical way to know they just touched a letter or number. It’s just a fast way to know you just touched the keys.
- Copy and Delete Screenshots – One of my favorite updates was the album with the screenshot title. This keeps the photos app much more organized without taking more time away from more important things. When you take a screenshot in iOS, users can add being able to save a Quick Note, and save to Files, users will be able to “Copy and Delete.” with no issues. The new option saves the screenshots as you take them to your clipboard and deletes it from your Camera Roll. This makes it so much simpler as opposed to users having to delete each individual screenshot.
- New Warning While Charging – The new ?iOS 16? release brought much-needed warning for iOS device users. Personally, I have found my iPhone way too hot while charging. This becomes a factor much faster if you are charging inside a car or extremely hot environment. The new warnings will help users know when it’s dangerous. Besides overcharging reduces battery life.
- Delete Find My Clock, and Health – Beginning with iOS 14 Apple allowed users to remove the native apps which they didn’t need on their iOS devices. This has always been a complaint but after several years Apple has added even more control which we should have already had in the past. Yes, we are referring to all the stock apps and such which most poor people such as myself will never need. Users will be able to delete find my, clock, and health. This will add some needed space to smaller devices that users don’t have to spare anyway.
- Built-In Currency Conversion – Users will now be able to convert currency inside the camera and photos app too. Simply hold your ?iPhone? camera up to a price tag in the store and wait for the magic right in your hand. Wait for the Live Text icon to show on the screen, tap and hold on to the price, and tap “Convert.” It supports many different languages too.
- Battery Percentage – Developers have been doing this for treats in the jailbreak community. ?Inside iOS 16?, Apple allowed users the ability to display the battery percentage in the status bar inside the battery icon. This saves users the hassle of swiping through to the control center to see the battery status. Unfortunately, this isn’t available on every iOS device. It’s a bit unclear which devices will show the status.
- Use Siri to Hang Up a Call – A brand new setting in ?iOS 16? allows users to hang up phone calls using only Siri. This makes driving and talking on their phones much safer. Open Settings > Accessibility > ?Siri? and activate Call Hangup, users can now simply say “Hey ?Siri?, hang up the call” to end a call. The person you are talking to will hear you request Siri to end the call.
Prevent Accidental Call Hangups – Users can now change the settings for the side button. In previous versions where the side button was pressed it immediately would end the call. In ?iOS 16?, Apple allows users to disable this unwanted button function to prevent accidental hang-ups. Open Settings > Accessibility> Touch and toggle on “Prevent Lock to End Call.” The button will now only function as a volume button.
- Sorting for Playlists – Inside Apple Music in ?iOS 16?, users can now sort playlists by title, artist, album, and release dates. The new playlist option can be used by tapping the three dots in the upper right-hand corner while viewing a playlist. This will make keeping music organized a breeze.
- Full-Screen Music Player – Users will be able to listen to music in full-screen mode on their lockscreen. One greatly missed feature in ?iOS 16? is the full-screen Lock Screen music player. While listening to a song from Apple Music? Spotify or any other third-party music app just tap on the album art from the Lock Screen location from Now Playing to enter the all-new full-screen player. Tap the full-screen album art to minimize Now Playing and reverse it like it was before.
