Ahead of Apple’s special event tomorrow, rumors from french blog iGen.fr claim that both models of the iPhone 6 will launch on September 19th, 10 days after the announcement date. This notable source has had a positive track record in the past regarding Apple’s release date.
At this point, we’re not sure wether it’s an educated guess or an actual release date. Rumors of a 5.5 inch iPhone 6 have been going around for several months stating that Apple will release the larger iPhone several weeks, if not months after the launch of the 4.7 inch variant due to supply constraints. From past releases, Apple has typically debuted their new iPhones 7-10 days after the announcement date.
For example, the iPhone 5s/5c was released on September 20, 2013. This was 10 days after it’s announcement date on September 10. The iPhone 5 was released on September 21, 2012 and was announced on September 12.
Sources told iGen that the 5.5 inch “will be available in much lower quantities than the 4.7 inch iPhone. This is not surprising as Apple has pulled this in the past. The iPhone 5s gold model was launched with the other color models, even though Apple had a limited supply of gold models.
The 4.7 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 models are internally code-named ‘N61? and ‘N56′, respectively, according to multiple sources.
Other than the launch date, the naming scheme is the only thing we don’t know about the device. Several rumors point to ‘iPhone 6L’, ‘iPhone Air’, ‘iPhone Pro’, or ‘iPhone Plus’.
