The nanoKontrol2 offers great control for music software for both Mac and PC. However, I only used the nanoKontrol2 on the Mac so I can only confirm how the device interacted with Mac. The nice part of the nanoKontrol2 was the free software that came included with the product. Music lovers alike all enjoy free shareware or software. The companies from Korg, Toontrack, and Applied Acoustics offered free downloads for different music software. I can personally say the software works nice along with the nano.
The nanoKontrol2 offers the user the ability to mix, fade, and much more with eight different tracks simultaneously. The lights on the nanKontrol2 make it easy to visually see which tracks and faders are being used at only a glance. However, i diid notice the lights staying on if the software was manipulated on the Mac directly. this definitely isn’t a deal breaker but something Korg needs to address in a software update. This may not have happened on a premium quality software such as Logic but I didn’t have access to those during this review.
‘The nanoKontrol mixes very nice through Garageband and Applied Acoustics offers free loops online with each purchase of the Korg. My primary use for the nanoKontrol was mixing intro’s for videos on Youtube. Ultimately, I was using GarageBand for this task without any problems.
The nanKontrol2 can be used by novice such as myself or the professional. The nano definitely has more features and capabilities than I know how to use. So that being said, I give this product 8/10 for my overall review. The only reason I don’t give it a ten is the directions could be a little more clear or offer an online video tutorial. I had to do quite a bit of research myself to understand how to use the nanokontrol2. So if you are a novice like myself and want to learn mixing please note it does have a small learning curve. The Korg nanoKontrol2 can be purchased at www.korg.com for $59.99. Feel free to leave any comments or questions below.
