Before the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were launched, photos of the device leaked online. Even without an official word from Apple, the photos were leaked and many speculated that it was the real thing. With the number of photos that get leaked, it is no longer surprising that photos of upcoming devices will be released to the public before the device will be launched.
Just recently, a Vietnamese blog, Tinhte.vn, posted pictures of what they claimed to be the design of the design of the upcoming iPad Air. The device, bearing a white frame, is reportedly just 7mm thin. Compared to the other iPad devices, this makes a revolutionary change to the way iPad devices are presented. With its reported 7mm size, the new iPad Air has almost the same depth as the two new iPhone models. Additionally, it comes with the volume button style introduced on the iPhone 6 models.
While the leaked photos show an almost identical model as the current iPad Air model, there are some notable changes to the new model. The thin size of the device is just one of the changes but there are also plenty of admirable qualities. One of the new features of the suspected model is a ‘glass’ (probably sapphire) Touch ID home button. The side shots of the device, however, does not show a mute switch. The blog believes that the absence of the mute switch is for space-saving purposes. To achieve its thinness, it is likely that Apple sacrificed this button.
As of this writing, there hasn’t been any update on what the status of the iPad Air 2 is. The leaked photos do not show a dummy unit but one that doesn’t happen to have a polished look. It may just be a prototype of what the iPad Air 2 will be like.
Earlier, it was reported that the new iPad model will be equipped with an anti-reflective screen. Unfortunately, the Vietnamese blog wasn’t able to switch on the device. So there is reason to believe that this is not the actual new iPad model. Another rumor is that Apple will be releasing a gold version of the new iPad Air.
Without an official word from Apple, people will have to wait for further announcements that will be released by the company. It is likely that the announcement will be made by the end of the year. Or it could be announced on the upcoming Oct. 16 event together with the new Retina iMacs and Yosemite release.
