With the number of smartphones available, the days of being able to text using just one hand seem to be gone forever. It seems as though the phones that are being developed have become more intelligent than ever before. But along with their new intelligence, their keyboards have also disappeared.
As a result, people have found it a lot difficult to type in their text with just one hand. Instead of being able to multitask, people have to concentrate on doing just one thing at a time. For those who would like to text while holding something with the other hand, you would have to drop that item so you could properly tap on the keyboard screen. Now that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have been released, the larger screen also requires users to type with both hands.
If you’ve missed being able to type on your phone with two fingers, there is a new app that could help you do this again on your iPhone device. Called One Handed Keyboard, the app has been specifically designed for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices running on iOS 8. Despite the new swipe keyboard feature on iOS 8, there still is a number of people who prefer to be able to type using their one hand. Especially on the 5.5-inch screen of the iPhone 6 Plus, typing with one hand can seem like a tedious task.
Using One Handed Keyboard iOS app, you’ll be able to return the one hand typing that you’ve gotten used to with your previous devices. Using the same idea as Reachability, the iOS app has configured a way to squeeze the keyboard onto the right or left side of the screen. This way, both left and right-handed users can easily type on their devices. Switching back to the full-sized keyboard layout can simply be done by holding down the space bar key on the app. Apart from being able to text using one hand, the app also allows you to change the color of your keyboard.
A downfall to using the app, however, will bring you back to the basic autocorrect feature that was used on older iOS software updates. The new predictive text feature on iOS 8 is unavailable. Additionally, the iOS app costs $1.99 to download. You can get One Handed Keyboard iOS app here for your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch device running on iOS 8.0 or later.
