Apple device users have always been looking forward to the next iOS release that will be made available to their devices. With the recent announcement of iOS 8.2, it is only natural for individuals to want to update to the latest OS so they can keep their device up to date. Unfortunately, this recent iOS 8.2 (or actually iOS 8.1.3) is not possible to jailbreak. Here are some of the answers to the questions raised over this matter:
Why can’t iOS 8.2 be jailbroken?
iOS versions lower than 8.2 could be jailbroken. Sadly, Apple patched some vulnerabilities in iOS 8.1.3. Since these vulnerabilities were the ones commonly used by both TaiG and PPJailbreak tools, it is not possible to make use of these tools to jailbreak the latest iOS versions.
Will iOS 8.2 be jailbroken in the future?
The team behind TaiG jailbreak tool assures us right now that they’re confident in being able to release a jailbreak for this specific iOS update once it has been publicly released by Apple. Hopefully, they’ll be able to release the jailbreak at the same time.
There is also some speculation that the jailbreak will be released by the TaiG team during the 2015 Mobile Security Summit, which will take place on March 27. On the said event, famous iOS hackers (such as Chronic, Comex, Pimskeks, and P0sixninja) will be speakers at the event organized by TaiG. With the TaiG team being able to jailbreak iOS 8.1.1 and 8.1.2, it’s likely possible that they can do it this time around with 8.1.3.
But while the TaiG team hasn’t released any formal announcement on iOS 8.2, everything is purely speculation at this time. We will know in a few days during the Mobile Security Summit (MSS), which is the Chinese version of JailbreakCon (Worldwide Jailbreak Convention) that started three years ago.
Broken Lightning Port
Another rumor that’s going around is that the hackers have been able to crack the Lightning port of Apple. The result of this is that it would be a lot easier to debug kernel bugs. Ultimately, it could help jailbreak the latest iOS version or later updates. If a jailbreak isn’t released, this broken Lightning port could be a promising upside to the event.
The Mobile Security Summit is just a few days away. Since nothing final has been released, it’s best to wait until the event takes place so we can know what the TaiG team is up to next.
