SurfacePad

When it comes to picking out a case for your iPhone device, there are a number of factors that people look for.  Sadly, this is all based on preference and does not really fit into one idea or standard.  While there are some who like a bulky case for their device, there are others who prefer a slim case that will not add bulk to their phone.  If you belong to the latter, the latest smartphone casing that you can use for your iPhone 6 or 6 Plus is Twelve South’s SurfacePad.

Twelve South has long gained the recognition as a premium manufacturer of Apple-exclusive accessories.  With the SurfacePad, they are able to provide a stylish, ultra-slim leather jacket as a way of adding protection to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models.  How well does this accessory hold up?  Find out here.

Build

If there’s one thing Twelve South is most proud of, it would definitely be its attention to detail.  As a manufacturer, they make sure to use and practice utmost care in creating their products.  One way they can do this is to choose the materials they use for their accessories.  And for the SurfacePad, the choice of using only the fine quality of Napa leather was the obvious one.  With careful stitching surrounding the edges of the SurfacePad, Twelve South ensures that the case does its job well and still manages to keep its stylishness.  But apart from being a sturdy material, the soft Napa leather smells great.

Concentrating on functionality, the SurfacePad leaves the right, top and bottom corners of the case uncovered so that its device users have easy access to the power/sleep button, Lightning connector and the headphone jack.  By leaving these areas exposed, users no longer have to open the case just to access these.

Another reason to love the SurfacePad is because it does not bulk up your device.  With its ultra-slim build, the SurfacePad only adds 2mm to the device and gives it a weight of 29 grams (iPhone 6) or 42 grams (iPhone 6 Plus).  This is a real advantage to device users who long for a case that won’t bulk up their device.

Other Uses

First and foremost, the SurfacePad serves as a protective case for your iPhone 6 or 6 Plus.  Especially with the number of complaints Apple has received over the screen scuffs on their display screens, having a case to cover this part of the device can be a big help.  Other than serving as a protective case, SurfacePad can serve as a display stand so you can easily prop up your handset on a landscape orientation and enjoy watching movies or reading from your screen.  Another purpose you can use the SurfacePad on is a wallet, thanks to the couple of handy slots included inside the front cover.  With this, you can carry around your ID, plastic cards, cash, tickets, or any other slim object.

Installation

Compared to other cases, the SurfacePad makes use of a micro-suction technology to install your device onto the case.  The use of this technology limits residues and damages when you reapply your phone to it in the future.  At the same time, the technology ensures that the case is steadily attached to the back of your iPhone.

On Amazon, the SurfacePad costs $40 for iPhone 6 devices and $50 for iPhone 6 Plus.  It is available in four color options: black, brown, red, and white.
