iOS 8 tips and tricks

iOS 7 debuted less than a year ago and brought about a major overhaul of the iPhone’s feel and display, but due to the impending arrival of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, we must now turn our attention to iOS 8 – if we are ready for it or not. With it comes a host of new additives and features that you may miss in the hustle and bustle of adjusting to life with one of the more profound smartphones, so here’s some top tips for you to survive on release day.

Make your phone safe, secure and spacious to install iOS 8
Yes, that’s right, even if you don’t opt to move for the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus on release day, you can still upgrade your operating system to the pinnacle of Apple tech. It would be wise though, to make sure you have the required installation space required on the device to make the transition, whilst also contemplating the decision to instantly upgrade. It may well be worth waiting for bug fixes and software updates in order to keep your phone completely safe from the tech baddies out there.

Make your shots matter
With iOS 8 comes a whole host of camera upgrades, one of which being the Timelapse camera option. This requires the user to place the camera in a static position (simply holding it may not be perfect to see the desired effect of the feature!) for an extended period of time. The result is that of what you would see in the movies, with a sped up version of what happens around you in the atmosphere during the day, sped up into a smaller clip.

Take advantage of ‘Metal’ technology
Apple revealed that alongside the introduction will be the release of ‘Metal’ technology, which essentially allows developers to access and implement more of the device’s potential, to make the gaming experience more complete and rounded – especially in the graphics department. One of the first things you will want to do after updating the operating system is to take to the casino floor, take to the asphalt and take to the action in what will no doubt be enhanced gaming experiences in relation to those of old. Whether you want to play casino games on your iPhone, or test the realms of the new device’s graphic capacity with a game such as Infinity Blade, you will no doubt be impressed with the tech improvements.

Make use of the in-house tips app
Apple have kindly decided to give those who find themselves struggling with the new technology a helping hand, in the form of a ‘Tips’ app. This app will no doubt help you get from A to B in many of your iPhone escapades and could be a timely blessing to those currently counting their chickens whilst waiting for the software release.

Keep your phone secure in the finance department
iOS8 now allows you to scan in a payment on the safari screen, as you could previously do with gift cards and vouchers on iTunes. Security codes will still need to be keyed into the system, but it is always best to be wary. So, make sure you are prepared by keeping your card details safe and use the Apple pay function (which is touch and user sensitive) when it is released in October.
