How to Unlock iOS 10 using Touch ID
Most users have enjoyed the new iOS 10.2 update but if you find you are having a problem please leave a description of it in the comments so we may address the issue. For the most part the new iOS 10.2 update has been pretty smooth sailing for us here at iPhonecaptain but we have had a few glitches. However, we are finding there are certain features we are missing and others we are thoroughly enjoying. One we are truly pissed over is the home button and how you unlock the device now in iOS 10.2. The Apple developers have added a way to return to touch id to unlock.
iOS 10.2 Home button Settings & Features
iOS 10 changed the home button functionality which has been a major issue to get use to after using the home button to return to the first home screen since the iPhone was released in 2007 and sliding the screen to unlock the iOS device too.
However, if you would rather unlock your iOS device by using the touch ID it is available. Some users enjoyed this method of unlocking their devices. It’s not very easy to find under the settings menu but it is there. Open Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button (halfway down the screen) and turn on ‘Rest Finger to Open’
This should have your device unlocking by using Touch ID now. If you try to use it and its not activated yet try pressing the sleep/wake button to lock your device then wait a couple seconds and try the new method. If it’s still not working you may need to do a hard reset. This simply means turning your devices power off then back on. If you find its still not functioning you may have an issue with your home button. There may be lint or dust around the home button. Try cleaning it with a clean dry cloth.
