These days’ app developers are making a lot of money by making small but feature rich games. While some companies only focus on developing heavy and complex games, others are making equally huge amounts of money by making multiple small games. The advent of mobile platform for gaming has given a new breath of life to the independent game developers. Many small but feature rich games such as 888poker itune app, Gun-fu from stickman and shadow fight have become quite popular amongst those who like to play games on their mobile phones. If we pay some attention to the evolution of games on the mobile platform then we find that even the first major mobile game hit i.e. Angry Birds was a comparatively slow but engaging game. In this article we will discuss why it is a good idea to develop multiple small games rather than just one big and complex game.

If you think that only big and complex games reach 50 million downloads then you are absolutely wrong. Large games come with large installation files and people often decide to play small but engaging games rather than big games with installation files running into gigabytes. If you have an idea and you can visualize it digitally then there is a chance that your small games might become a huge hit such as like 888poker application for IOS. If it does become a hit, it will garner you a lot of praise and reputation as a game developer. Once you get your name out there, people will consider downloading your every new game thinking that it might be just as good as the last one.

Small games can help you build the necessary hype for the big game release:

If you have a big game release date coming up then small games can help you run a marketing campaign for its release. You can develop multiple small games and embed in them some form of visual or cinematic ad that lets the players know about your big game. If people like your games then chances are that they will be very excited about your big game release. Another benefit of developing small games is that you can advertise your big game on them without paying to anyone. Think about it, what if one of your small games has over a million downloads, for example 888 poker app, you will be able to reach a million people without spending a single penny.

Small games bring in more revenue:

There are three ways of earning money through mobile games. The first is that you make the game as a paid app. The second is that you run advertisements in it and the third is through in app purchases. We won’t advice you to make your game a paid app. You can see it for yourself that paid games never reach the level of popularity that free games reach. People also get upset if you run advertisements in a paid app. For this reason it’s better to let the app remain free and earn through in-app advertisements and purchases.
