One of the good things about the iPhone is that it now comes with really good camera specs to ensure that each shot you take is at its best quality. For some informal occasions, iPhone photos can compensate for one’s need. If you have a blog, you can use your iPhone to capture photos in moments when you don’t have your camera with you. Armed with your device and a photo-editing app as good as Afterlight iOS app, you already have a powerful combination to capture your photos. Previously called Afterglow, the Afterlight app is enjoyable to use because of how simple its interface is. Not only that, it is an effective app that truly does what it was intended for.
Upon launching the app, you get to choose whether you would like to capture a new photo or use one from your camera roll. If you choose to take a new photo, you can use the in-app camera that comes with extra functions: a separate focus & exposure controls, grid overlay, and a self-timer. On the interface, you can easily navigate and choose from the categories– adjustments, effects, frames, filters, and cropping. A simple tap on each category brings out the submenus for each tool.
Under the adjustments menu, you can perform basic photo edits such as exposure, contrast, brightness, hue/saturation, temperature, vignette, sharpening, and highlight/shadow/mid tone color adjustment.
There are 75 frames that you can choose from including shapes such as hearts, hexagon, ovals, triangles, and many more. Unlike other similar photo-editing apps, you get to adjust the opacity of the frame and even change its background. With an available wallpaper pack that you can purchase for an additional $0.99, you get to go beyond the built-in black or white color.
The app comes with 56 filters to give you different mood settings that you would like to achieve. With this number, however, it is easy to get overwhelmed and settle for a filter just because you’re already too confused to choose one.
The undo button goes back a step before finally returning to the original form of the photo. As a result, you can easily edit the photo when you make a mistake. And when you’re finally ready to share your image, you can share it via numerous options– save to camera roll or sharing via another app. With the latter, you no longer have to waste time opening the app and pulling up the photo once again.
Download Afterlight iOS app to your device for only $0.99. The app is compatible with iOS devices running on iOS 5.0 or later.
