If your friends have recently complained that they are not receiving your text messages, it may not be delivered to your iPhone appropriately.
Apple recently acknowledged that they are dealing with a problem uncommon to us. Apparently, there are some text messages that are being converted into an iMessage and are then forwarded to an inactive Apple ID. Despite the presence of a ‘Delivered’ flag, the text actually gets lost and there’s no way to retrieve it.
As explained by an AppleCare representative:
- This is a problem plenty are facing.
- Apple’s engineering team is currently working on the problem. However, they are clueless as to how to fix the issue.
- As of the moment, there are no reliable solutions. While standard fixes may work immediately for some, there are others who may encounter the issue a while longer.
The issue is apparently common once the phone number of a new contact is added onto the iPhone field. Since the device automatically converts a text message into an iMessage under this field, it has no way to determine whether or not the account is still active. If your recipient is no longer using the Apple ID associated with his iMessage, he may never receive the text messages you send him.
While Apple is currently working on the issue, a suggested quick fix is to remove the contact and create a new one for the number; ensuring that his mobile number goes on the telephone number instead of the iPhone field. Further developments on this error will be reported as soon as they are available.
