A recent report by MacRumors suggest that several trademark filings made by Apple is targeted at protecting the usage of words like Healthbook, Health Book, HealthKit, iResearch, and iReasearch.
The filings were made earlier this year in Trinidad and Tobago. The Healthbook app is one of the major features of the upcoming iOS 8 which keeps track of a user’s health and fitness and to provide various information in these areas. Earlier rumors suggest that Apple might use the one-word variation namely “Healthbook” instead of the two-word variation.
The filings were made on February 3 this year, days after the name was exposed. A day later, several other trademark applications were filed for other terms namely HealthKit, iResearch, and iReasearch. Healthkit could be a developer’s tool for Healthbook while the other terms are not clear what they could be.
iOS 8 is expected to be announced at this year’s WWDC during Apple’s keynote. The event will be held on June 2-6 at Moscone Center.
