With Mother’s Day fast approaching, it seems like everyone is already gearing up on their promotions and offers for the yearly event. Apple Watch device users have something to look forward to on Sunday, May 14th as Apple has announced they will be hosting a special Activity Challenge just as it did on Earth Day and New Year’s. Once the challenge is completed, Watch users will get to earn an iMessage sticker along with a special achievement medal.
As is the case, the challenge won’t be available on the iPhone Activity app until Friday. Despite this, publications have been able to discover backend references in the iOS code. They have also discovered some vital information about the challenge.
In order to win the award, a 1-mile workout must be completed on Mother’s Day. There is no limitation as to what type of workout this should be– a walk, run, or even a wheelchair workout. The important thing is that a distance of one mile should be completed under one session. To verify it, the workout needs to be recorded to HealthKit via the Workout app on the Watch, or a third-party app that integrates this information with the database of Health.
Once the challenge has been completed, a special rose medal will be awarded along with a rose iMessages sticker that can be shared with friends. On the other hand, if the challenge won’t get completed, the badge will no longer be available as it will disappear after May 14th.
While the images of the medal shows a flat rose illustration, it is not the actual reward that will be given to those who complete the challenge. Instead, a full 3D rose will be appearing on the Activity app along with a flat render for the sticker.
Complete details about the challenge are expected to be given on Friday to Apple Watch users based in the United States. A reason why the challenge is only available in the country is because Mother’s Day is not recognized as an international celebration. It also does not fall on the same day for the countries that do celebrate it. So this means bad news for those who are not based in the US as they still have to wait for the next challenge they can join in.
