It’s only been a week since Apple released its latest smartphone, the Apple iPhone 14 series, yet there are already a number of complaints about the device. These complaints can be found on social media and have been reported by various publications.
In particular, the bugs seem to be affecting the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. While the reported issues seem to be minor, they are causing some frustration to device owners.
Thankfully, the issues seem to be related to a software glitch or a third-party problem; all of which are easier to take care of compared to a hardware problem.
Here are the current issues that other iPhone 14 device users have reported and what their status is:
Issue #1: Freezing During Data Transfer
The first issue that users reported is the device freezing up during data transfer.
This is quite annoying since it is the first thing users do when they get their new iPhones. But instead of getting a seamless data transfer experience, there are users that have reported experiencing their device freezing up.
There are also some iPhone 14 Pro users who were unable to complete the data transfer. During data transfer, affected devices freeze up or become unresponsive.
Users have reported a bug that stops the device from moving onward after the data transfer option or an iCloud restore.
Apple’s Response:
Right now, this bug has not yet been fixed.
But fortunately, Apple has acknowledged the issue and released a memo to MacRumors saying that they are “aware of this issue happening and is investigating it.”
While they are working on a fix for the issue, Apple recommends users to force restart their devices if it becomes unresponsive longer than 5 minutes.
Issue #2: Rattling and Shaking Camera on Certain Apps
Another issue affecting iPhone 14 Pro devices is the camera rattling and shaking when being used on social media apps like Snapchat, TikTok, and Instagram. This year’s iPhone 14 Pro camera got an upgrade to 48-megapixel and it seems like these apps are not yet suitable to work with it. Reports have pointed out that the issue seems to be coming from the camera’s optical image stabilization feature, which is supposed to reduce shakes.
There are also users who report that their camera is producing physical sounds with this issue.
Apple’s Response:
Apple has identified a fix for the bug. They will be releasing a software update that takes care of the issue next week.
Issue #3: Copy-Paste Bug on iOS 16
Shortly before Apple released the new iPhone 14 devices to the market, it also rolled out its latest iOS 16 software update. And early adapters of the iOS version have complained of getting too many pop-up alerts when they are trying to copy-paste data between apps. This issue is not only affecting iPhone 14 devices but older iPhone models that have updated to iOS 16 already.
Apple’s Response:
Apple’s Vice President of Sensing & Connectivity, Ron Huang, responded to the complaint: “This is absolutely not expected behavior and we will get to the bottom of it.”
Issue #4: iMessage and FaceTime Issues
While users complained about the iPhone 14 Pro camera issues on certain apps, there are others who pointed out that they have iMessage and FaceTime issues too. According to these complaints, users were unable to receive FaceTime calls and iMessages after they set up their new iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro.
Apple’s Response:
Apple has acknowledged this issue and said that it is a pretty serious one. They advice users to update to the latest iOS 16.0.1 version.
If the issue is still occurring on your device after updating to the latest iOS version, you can try these steps:
- Go to Settings > Cellular. Make sure that the phone number you wish to use is switched on.
- Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.
- Choose the phone number you wish to use with Messages.
- Go back to Settings > FaceTime.
- Choose the phone number you wish to use with FaceTime.
Thankfully, Apple is already responding to these bugs and is doing its best to get them fixed as soon as possible.
