Apple Music has a $99 annual option you may not know about

apple music $99 annual subscription

Apple has silently made a new subscription option for its Apple Music service.  According to TechCrunch, the company is now offering an annual subscription for only $99.  But as noted by the publication, the option to get the annual subscription is not as easily available to Apple Music users.  After scurrying around to look for the option, it’s actually difficult to hunt down.  But it is, indeed, real.

Perhaps a good reason as to why it is so difficult to find is because Apple does not want its users to know about this option in the first place.  Considering that Apple Music subscribers make a monthly payment of at least $9.99 every month, this roughly adds up to $119.88 in a year.  And that’s only for a single plan.  If you’re on a family plan, you’d still have to pay $14.99 per month or $4.99 per month for students.

Meanwhile, if you haven’t subscribed for the service, Apple will let you subscribe to a normal monthly plan.  Existing subscribers, however, may opt for the annual plan so that they can enjoy the discount.  As for new subscribers, you would have to buy the monthly subscription, then make the switch later on.

If you are an existing Apple Music subscriber and would like to switch to this annual plan, here are the steps you will need to make:

  1. Open the App Store app
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Featured tab
  3. Tap on your Apple ID and enter your password
  4. Tap on “View Apple ID”
  5. Tap on Subscriptions button so you can access the settings to your Apple Music membership

From this point, you can already make the necessary changes to your existing plan.

Prior to this change, the only way for you to enjoy the $99 annual plan was to buy a gift card from Apple Music.  With this new option around, you no longer have to get the gift card to enjoy the discounted rate.
