Lately, there has been a bothering iPhone Message issue that has affected a number of iPhone users. What this problem does is that after receiving a set of unicode, alien-ish looking characters, the Messages app tends to crash and quit unexpectedly. This is tremendously worrisome as Messages is one of those apps that people use quite a lot on their iOS devices.
As of the moment, Apple has affirmed that they have grown conscious of this iMessage issue. Releasing a message to the public, Apple has promised that they are currently working on a fix that will soon be launched in a software update. But until then, there are some temporary solutions that can be used to get rid of the Messages app crashing issue.
If you happen to have received the unicode characters and your Messages app quits unexpectedly, you can follow some of these alternatives to re-open the app:
- Ask Siri to “read unread messages.”
- Use Siri to reply to the malicious message. After replying, you’ll be able to open the app once again.
- If the problem persists, you can delete the message instead of reading it. To do this, you can tap and hold on the malicious message, tap on More and Delete. This will remove the message from the thread.
Is your iPhone affected by the issue? You may want to try one of the temporary fix options offered by Apple. Until the software update that addresses this issue is released, you’ll have to be cautious about the messages you receive on your phone.
