After a rather sad introduction to the new iPad mini 3, Apple never mentioned they updated it’s Smart Covers and Smart Cases for the new generation iPads.
The Smart Covers are made of polyurethane and come in seven vibrant colors. Smart Cases, on the other hand are made out of leather and are made of five neutral colors.
Designed for the 6.1mm iPad Air 2, Apple is selling it’s Smart Covers and Smart Cases for a whopping $39 and $79 respectively. The covers for the iPad mini 3 come in at $39 and $69 respectively, $10 cheaper than the Air 2’s Smart Case.
All models of the Smart Cover have a wake-to-open and wake-to-close feature, but can be disabled in the iPad’s settings. They protect the screen from scratches, but leave the back of the device vulnerable. The Smart Cases on the other hand offer full protection of the devices. Including the front and back of the device in a stronger leather case.
