Have you been one of the many who have patiently awaited for Apple Pay? Here’s some good news for you!
Bank of America has just announced new customer data on adoption of the mobile payment service. The bank has partnered with Apple to start rolling out Apple Pay during its launch back in October 2014. Along with the new data, the bank has also revealed their most recent quarterly earnings. As figures show, nearly 800,000 of its current customers have already started using Apple Pay. A total of around 1.1 million debit and credit cards have been activated.
Apart from this information from Bank of America, another grocery store chain has just announced their new support for customers who wish to conduct transactions using Apple Pay. With this, shoppers in Northern California and Nevada may now use Apple Pay as a check out option at Lucky, Save Mart and FoodMaxx stores.
According to Save Mart Supermarkets’ announcement earlier today:
“Expect new things in our stores this year—the first of which is Apple Pay. We are working diligently to transform the shopping experience for our customers and this cutting-edge technology will help to speed them through checkout,” explained Nicole Piccinini Pesco, Co-President & Chief Strategy and Branding Officer. “Accepting Apple Pay provides shoppers a secure and private way to pay for their groceries and we’ve added support for this new mobile payment method solely for their benefit and convenience.”
Loyal shoppers of the three stores can start using Apple Pay starting today. The payment option is already available in 217 locations.
Apple Pay is supported on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. When Apple Watch will launch in March, it will enable iPhone 5, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s users to start using the service too.
Apple Pay requires its users to have a bank supportive of its service. You may check out the list of banks that have rolled out their support for the payment option here.
As of this writing, Apple Pay is only available to customers based in the United States. Earlier this month, however, it was reported that the service will be rolling out their support for Canada-based users and their banks. Based on the report, Apple Pay will be available in Canada as early as March. Based on transaction volume, Apple currently supports 90% of US credit cards. Are you looking forward to using Apple Pay when it becomes available in your area?
