After a successfully selling 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple is pushing it’s biggest supplier, Foxconn, to hire more employees to meet the new iPhones’ demand, reports DigiTimes on Tuesday.
Foxconn is already looking into hiring a huge scale of workers in it’s Shenzhen and Zengzhou facilities. Sources claim that working for the manufacturer isn’t as attractive as it used to be.
Which means Foxconn is having issues finding recruits to help mass produce the product. Though the firm has hosted several events to “maintain its manpower”.
Foxconn has recently hired over 100,000 new employees this last June, ahead of Apple’s iPhone 6 debut.
In the past year Foxconn has been replacing manpower with machines to assemble the iPhones. Each of these machines cost anywhere between $20,000 to $25,000 to build. Though CEO Terry Gou isn’t pleased because these machines aren’t flexible and lack proficiency.
Tim Cook and Co. confirmed that the new iPhones will be available in China, their biggest market in the world, on October 17.
The US Apple Online Store shows a 7-10 day shipping estimate for the iPhone 6, and a 3-4 week shipping estimate for the iPhone 6 Plus.
