Just recently, Apple announced the release of their latest watchOS 2 update to the public. If you own an Apple Watch, this new OS update may be something that you have been waiting for. Thanks to this update, you can enjoy new features on your Apple Watch such as:
- New time-lapse watch faces
- Third-party complications
- Native apps
- Custom photo watch faces
- Time Travel
- Nightstand mode
- Reply to Email
- Enhanced Siri
- Activation Lock
- Add more friends using multiple friend screens
- Use multiple colors for sketches
When it was announced, the release of the app was rescheduled because Apple discovered an unspecified bug. Taking necessary precautions, they decided to work on the bug before watchOS 2 would be launched. Considering it took Apple 5 days to release the new OS, the bug may have been a significant one. Thankfully, Apple took the initiative and fixed the issue before it reached their intended users.
Now that the update has been made official, you can now download it on your Apple Watch. Here’s a short guide on how you can upgrade your device to watchOS 2:
Before anything, make sure that the iPhone you intend to pair the watch with has been updated to iOS 9 already. Also, your Apple Watch should have at least 50% battery left so the update can be successfully installed on your device.
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi
Step 2: With your Apple Watch situated close to the iPhone, open the Watch app on your iPhone
Step 3: Tap on My Watch > General > Software Update
Step 4: If there is an update available, you can already start downloading watchOS 2
Step 5: Once the download has completed, start the installation process.
You will know that the update has successfully been done once you see the Apple logo appear on your watch and the update’s progress bar has been completed. As soon as this happens, your device will reboot. This will indicate that your Apple Watch already has the watchOS 2 update running behind it. You will be able to enjoy the new features announced with the update.
