iOS 8 brings many great new features. However, if you have been jailbroken on iOS 7 you have had access to many of iOS 8 features already. We are going to run through eight of the top features in iOS 8 which are based on previous jailbreak tweaks.
1.The most popular of the eight we will discuss today will be quick reply no doubt. This was one of the most wanted features for quite some time. Jailbreakers have been able to use this feature by using tweaks such as Couria and the most recent tweak just released called Auki. Aiki has many of the same features as Apple has included in iOS 8.
2.Secondly, was “OKSiri tweak” which was just released this past week. It enable users to invoke OKSiri using an Activator gesture. This is a bit different from the iOS 8 features for Always-On Siri but it still closely resembles the tweak OKSiri.
3. Fast Access to Favorite Contacts
Apple has added your favorite contacts to the App a switcher above the app cads. Users can tap any of these contacts to get a slide out which allows them to call, text, or facetime the contact right from inside the App Switcher. Although, there hasn’t been a tweak which added contacts to the app switcher we did have knew which added them to spotlight and offered much of the same features for calling, texting, and fact time. right from inside spotlight. Users could still use spotlight by swiping right to open the search bar.
4. Sending/Receiving Messages From Mac
Continuity was introduced in Yosemite the next version of OSX. This allows users to open an emaIL Or message on one device and complete it on the other. Users will also be able to make/take calls from the mac. The jailbreak tweak which allowed users features similar to these was Remote messages. Users could open messages on one device and finish on another as long as they were on same wifi connection. I still believe users will have to be on same wifi connection to use Continuity in iOS 8. However, Apple could enable some type of tethering to allow users to use Continuity over cell towers. I guess well see soon.
5. Suggestive Keyboard.
Predictive Keyboard has been around for quite some time for jailbreaK COMMUNITY. These are pretty much identical features seen in iOS 8 for using Suggetive Keyboards. As users type they are give three different word suggestions across the top of keyboard. This really helps to speed up typing.
6. Apple has added more photo editing options in iOS 8 such as the iPad panorama feature. This feature has never been available for iPad until iOS 8. However, we have had a jailbreak tweak called Firebreak which added this feature to any unsupported devices including iPad.
7. iOS 8 has added a way for Emergency personal to contact family by adding your in case of emergency to lockscreen. This has been available for quite a while from a tweak call incaseof. These are the type features we need more of, the kind which could impact saving a life.
8. Apple has finally allowed developers to include widgets on lockscreen. However, they won’t be allowed on the homescreen but the lockscreen is a start. We have had many different tweaks which allowed users to add widgets to Notification Center. Such as iWidgets, NCWeather, and several more.
