Last month, Apple released the latest iOS 8 software update that plenty of users were excited about. By introducing this new update, Apple also paved the way for the release of its new features such as Apple Pay and third party keyboard apps that promise to change the way iOS users type on their screens. With these new changes, it is clear why many have been quick to update their device with the latest iOS software update. Indeed, these are exciting times ahead for iOS device users.
Following the iOS 8 release, Apple has come up with a minor update called iOS 8.1.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. The recent update follows a beta release that was formerly done for Apple’s developer program. For those who updated to iOS 8.1 last month, a few issues were faced by users. But thanks to Apple’s swift response, these issues were fixed in no time. With the latest iOS 8.1.1 release, Apple promises to do much more.
Especially for older, A5-powered devices such as the iPad 2 and iPhone 4s, the recent iOS 8.1.1 release will improve the performance of the OS on these devices. Additionally, the new update will also improve the performance of the iPod touch that was released in 2012 since it runs on Apple’s A5 chip.
Compared to the previous iOS update rollouts, iOS 8.1.1 appears to be running smoothly for iOS users. Considering a lot of users were pretty mad with last month’s botched iOS 8.0.1 rollout, it seems like Apple is finally doing their best to avoid these issues from emerging once again.
If you haven’t updated your phone to the latest iOS 8.1.1 update yet, you can access it through Software Update located in your Settings app. To complete the update without any issues, your device needs to be connected to WiFi service and should have at least 50% battery juice. Otherwise, you should connect your device to a power supply so you can download and install the current iOS update.
Aside from this new iOS version update, Apple has also started to ship OS X 10.10.1 with WiFI performance fixes along with other improvements. Third generation Apple TV users can also get a maintenance update for their device so that it will be running on version 7.0.2.
