The release of iOS 10.3 has many users wanting to update their devices.  We are going to share what’re think is best along with what we have read online.  However, these are only opinions and you know what they say about that.

iPhone 7|7+ on iOS 10.2 -64-bit devices Jailbreak Status

You are just SOL.  These devices running iOS 10.2 firmware have no chance of being Jailbroken.  Todesco has commented many times on Twitter saying people think I don’t jailbreak iPhone 7|7+ just because I don’t want too.  He also commented there was a reason it wasn’t Jailbroken on iOS 10.2.  Apple basically closed the exploits when he released iOS 10.0.1 to 10.1 on iPhone 7|7+.  This was what Saurik commented about himself saying Todesco burned exploited by releasing it now.

@FriedAppleTeam comfirm what luca todesco said a while ago that yalu jailbreak maybe the last jailbreak for a long while but we still hope! pic.twitter.com/WcFd3vBbvs

If you are currently on iOS 10.3 beta x downgrade to 10.2 for a future jailbreak. Otherwise, you will most likely have no chance.

iOS 10.2 – 64-bit devices

Stay on your current Jailbreak with Yalu.

Jailbreak Happenings 64 -bit devices:

Apple closed exploits needed to jailbreak iPhone 7|7+ iOS 10.2

The exploits were closed after the iOS 10.1.1 Jailbreak released.

Basically, in a nutshell when Todesco released the jailbreak on firmware iOS 10.0-10.1.1 it prevented millions from getting to jailbreak versus thousands.  We are starting too sees the extent of its effects now due to iOS 10.2 jailbreak for iPhone 7|7+ not happening.

Stay on the current firmware iOS 10.2.  Do not update to iOS 10.3 if you haven’t already.  Also, save the Blobs for all the devices you own on the firmware regardless of jailbreak status.

** iPhone 7|7+ devices on iOS 10- 10.1.1 jailbreak using our Mach-Portal guide here called  How to Jailbreak iPhone 7/7+, iPhone 6s/6s+ and iPad Pro Using Mach portal (IOS 10.0-10.1.1) [Tutorial]

32-bit device

Recently had lots of new developments released with downgrading a possibility using a new tool from the FriedAppleTeam.  Check out our post to better understand the possibilities of the 32-bit device downgrades called Re-Restore Bug Allows iOS 10 to iOS 9.x Downgrade.

The main thing to remember when thinking of jailbreaking is save the shsh blobs.  It’s a good idea to save this for any device you own which could be used for a jailbreak in the future.  Regardless, if there is a jailbreak current or even discussed.  Having the blobs ensures if it happens you have means to jailbreak your device by having the blobs.

32-bit devices

Stay on the current firmware but save blobs.  It may be possible in the near future to downgrade using the new tool being created by FriedAppleTeam.  Once users have the tool and the blobs they can downgrade to any iO 9 firmware and jailbreak using Home Depot.  32-bit devices have many more options available now.

32-bit devices running iOS 9 now can jailbreak using Pangu Jailbreak tool.  This was the last great jailbreak we had in my opinion.  However, we have hopes for future updates on iOS 10.2.

iPhonecaptain Thoughts

  • Jailbreaking is done.
  • Yalu will be the last jailbreak we ever see
  • Apple’s NewFileSytems probably built to prevent jailbreaking
  • Todesco was paid by Apple to find Security Exploits.  By accepting their money it prevents him from updating Yalu jailbreak or making new jailbreak for other devices

  • He has spent too much time wasted jailbreaking other devices such as the Nintendo Switch and Now PS4.  This proves he’s still interested but can’t due to legal issues of accepting money.
  • Todesco jailbreaking these other devices proves he still enjoys doing it.  The fact of the matter is, he can not jailbreak Apple devices dues to the Apple Bounty Program.

Here’s my what I recommend.  If you are already jailbroken or want to be jailbroken follow the suggestions above.  If you are jailbroken enjoy it.  That’s what I suggest anyway.  Wait, until iOS 11 releases see what’s developed and check back with us again, for future recommendations on Jailbreaking.
