Who hasn’t heard of WordPress by now? Ever since it launched in 2003 it’s been making headway, helping people launch their businesses and create their blogs and even bringing people together via all sorts of informative activities.

But what about determining the theme that was used on a particular website? Have you ever wanted to know what theme a site was using, but didn’t really have the time to manually search for it in the huge directory full of WordPress themes and plugins? If so, you are in luck! Let’s look at 5 super simple steps for doing a simple WordPress theme check to bring you all the information you seek.

Using a WordPress Theme Detector Never Looked so Easy

Just like you don’t need to know any design skills to design your own website with WordPress, you don’t need to learn any complicated knowledge in order to find out what WordPress theme and which plugins a site is using. Simply follow the next 5 steps to get the information you seek instantly.

  1. First of all you should have a website in mind. If you’re looking to design your own website, your eyes must have been open as you were browsing the internet and one or several amazing themes must have jumped out as superior to others. Open the website you would like to analyze in the browser of your choice an let’s move on.
  2. Next, you should look in the address bar, for the URL of the page you want to find out information about. Select the page’s address and copy it to the clipboard.
  3. The process now requires we switch websites and use a simple theme detector. No worries though, there is no installation required. Just go to whoiswp.com.
  4. Straightaway, you will see a search box on the homepage and this is where you should paste the link you have copied before.
  5. All that’s left to do now is to press the Search button on the right of the search box and there you have it!

You should now be able to see all the required details about the WordPress theme that has been used to create the website, including which version was used, and the author’s name and website.

Theme Detector and Plugin Finder, 2 in 1

The great thing about whoisWP is that it also shows you what the plugins installed on the website are, and you have the choice to instantly access even more information about the helpful add-ons at the push of the View plugin button.

These little additional tools can significantly increase the quality of your website when used correctly, so you should definitely keep an eye out for the best ones you can find.

Good Luck!

According to Matt Mullenweg, the future of WordPress is looking bright, with no signs of slowing down. We will soon see it spread its wings towards mobile and social applications, so it sounds like an exciting time to come for WordPress users worldwide. Enjoy your new WordPress theme!
