Googe Maps was released 2 days ago on the App Store and found itself in top free apps on the App Store in less than a day . This shows how eager people were to get an iOS version of Google Maps on their device . But the main problem was that it couldnt be set as the default iOS map . Instead any map linked which you opened redirected to Apple Maps and you dont find any option to change the defaullt map . This is where MapsOpener comes into action , a cydia tweak developed by HASHBANG Productions . What it does is that it sets Google Maps as the default iOS map instead of the built in Apple Maps . So normally , if you click on a map link in a browser or an app , it will redirect you to the Google Maps App.
As you can see in the images above , clicking on the map link on facebook redirects to Google Maps instead of the built-in Apple Maps . This is definitely the tweak some of us were waiting for .
You can find MapsOpener on Cydia in BigBoss repo for free . After downloading , there will be no icon added to the springboard .
