Not to be confused with an actual location, Monument Valley iOS app is a game for those with a creative mind and an even wilder imagination. Built by the same developer of the popular Whale Trail game, Ustwo, Monument Valley is a calm puzzle where you have to discover pathwalks that aren’t really there. Because of its calm environment and background music, it’s no wonder why this app has found its way on the iTunes Store’s Editor’s Choice for the week.

In the game, you play the role of Ida, a silent princess with a quest to find forgiveness. Her struggle, however, is to find the right path to her goal. As exhibited in the game, living in a monumental world now inhabited by crow people and other entities continues to be a struggle as Ida tries to look for new paths.
Your role is to direct Ida to her destination by tapping on the screen. Ida can walk a few steps, climb, and even stay put for a new path she can walk on. There is an endless array of obstacles and architectural challenges that Ida needs to surpass through the use of taps and swipes; climb staircases, go through doors and platforms, and other pathways that may even be invisible at first glance.
While the game may be a little too relaxed, it fuses in the right kind of curiosity and imagination for someone waiting to defy the laws of physics. You won’t need to kill anyone but the idea itself of finding the right path is enough to make you want to finish the game.
The game can actually be finished in a short amount of time, if you pay enough attention to it. You don’t need to spend several days trying to figure out the puzzle. If you’re fond of games like this one, you will enjoy Monument Valley! The only downfall is that it costs $3.99 to purchase. But if you’re looking for a new game to get hooked on to, this is a worthwhile download!
