According to 9to5Mac, Apple will be using a new reservation pass system for customers that’ll waiting in line for the iPhone 6 launch. According to the site, Apple has begun sending out training equipment to employees for the system. Which will be called, “Reservation Pass.”
Reservation Pass is a virtual line, allowing Apple to better manage crowds or stockpiles on crazy launch days. The system will be available to track the customers position in line, and syncs with the local brick-and-mortar store to make sure there’s enough devices in stock.
Typically, Apple will hand out paper cards to their customers with model and color information. This ensured customers got what products they want.
9to5Mac says this new system will simplify the system, and will come with some benefits. Customers will receive SMS and email notifications, and can leave the line and come back to their desire. This was not possible in the past.
Apple usually has at least one hundred customers lining up in front of the Apple Store. Compared to Apple’s typical experience at the retail store, launch days can be absolute chaos.
Both iPhone models, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, will be available for preorders online this Friday, and will be available in-stores beginning September 19. Pricing will start at $199 and $299, coming in 16, 64, and 128GB respectively, with a typical 2-year contract.
