One of the best wearable technology out there is the Pebble SmartWatch. The tech specs it has on it is what makes it amazing, specially the customizability to it. The pebble may not have the highest resolution screen out there in the market and some other downfalls, but if you are open-minded to new ideas and a change in your daily routine, the convenience this little guy can bring is amazing.
What some people do not understand about the Pebble is that is not a phone on the wrist, what it really is a second screen for your notifications. The original idea started off on Kickstarter, with the concept of making smartphone users life much easier. The Pebble got a stunning amount of backers, and decided to start making them in a small shop on California. As more and more people bought this product, they decided to manufacture them in a bigger factory. From that small project, the Kickstarter edition was born. From there, the Pebble SmartWatch has been in named stores that sells electronics found nationwide. No doubt this baby is a very simple piece of tech that does exactly what is functioned to do, no more no less.
The Pebble SmartWatch has many pros and some cons, just like any other tech product. What makes this watch so unique is the app store it has. The first time you unbox the Pebble, you have to download the pebble smartwatch app in the Apple app store or the Android google play store. Once downloaded, you have to go through the Pebble software update. Once done, there is going to be different apps and watch faces you can put inside your pebble locker. Another app/tweak I forgot to mention if you are jailbroken is smartwatch+. What this tweak allows you to do is extend the usability of your Pebble. You can find you iphone with it, control your music (even if you can with the built in app in the watch), control your camera, see the weather from the watch and so much more. Another pro in the Pebble Smartwatch is the notifications. This is by far super amazing in my opinion. All of the notifications from your phone will appear on your watch. This feature is very useful because let’s say you do not want to fetch your phone from your pocket and you see an unimportant call or text on your watch, from there you have the option to decline or answer. Other apps built in the pebble are alarms, watchfaces, and settings.
Something else I forgot to mention to folks with jailbroken devices with a pebble, I recommend you install smartwatch+, smartstatus, and pebble profiles. I promise this tweaks will push your Pebble to its limits.
Moving on to tech specs, the Pebble SmartWatch comes with:
Processor: ARM Cortex -m3, up to 80 MHz
bluetooth 4.0
Pebble OS
5-7 days between charging
lithium-ion polymer battery
3D accelerometer
LED backlight
scratch resistance
Ambient light sensor
e-compass capable
paper back display
water resistance
Is the Pebble SmartWatch worth $150? the answer for me is a total yes. Even if the downfalls are inability to send texts or make calls to any of your contacts, to me it is still worth the buy because of all of the other features and usability. I do not regret waisting my money on this stunning product.
