enter safe DFU mode

How to put your iOS DEVICE Into Safe aka DFU Mode

We have all experienced a broken Cydia Tweak that causes our iOS device to go into a continuous loop or has conflict with other tweaks. The problem is most likely two tweaks conflicting or you may have installed a tweak which isn’t compatible with the iOS version on your device. Safe mode is also known around the jailbreak community as DFU mode. We will refer to it as safe dfu mode in this post so readers understand they are the same thing.  Safe DFU Mode may be used for several different reasons on the iOS device.  Users may enter safe dfu mode to downgrade, restore, and/or remove bad tweaks through mobile-substrate.  As you see understanding safe dfu mode is an important part for the function of any iOS device. Understanding how and when to use it is just as important too.  Need help?  Feel free to leave a comment anytime.

Top Ten Cydia Tweaks for Yalu Jailbreak iOS 10 | 10.1.1 | 10.2

iPhone 7 or iPhone 7+ Safe DFU Mode Update

Important Update for iPhone 7/7+: The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus require a different technique for getting into DFU Mode.  Watch our video here How to Enter DFU Mode on iPhone 7/7+

Need to Jailbreak iOS 10.2, Watch our full tutorial on How to Jailbreak iOS 10.2 using Yalu and Mach Portal

Safe aka DFU Mode can be used to fix many common problems users may encounter. Safe Mode aka DFU Mode can help users with:

  • Conflicting tweaks/removing bad tweaks
  • infinite loop
  • Downgrading
  • Restoring

Users should know before putting devices into Safe Mode aka DFU Mode, the tweaks installed will not be visible under Settings while in Safe Mode.  They are still on the device but can’t be seen under settings.

How to enter Safe DFU Mode:

At a glance:

  1. connect the device to Mac/PC using USB cable
  2. power off the device
  3. hold power aka sleep/wake button 3 sec.
  4. hold power aka sleep/wake button and home button simultaneously for 3-5 seconds
  5. release power aka sleep/wake but continue holding Home button (do this without lifting finger from home)
  6. keep holding home for about 15 seconds
  7. you will see a popup in iTunes that it’s detected a device in recovery mode.  This is how iTunes tells you the device is in safe dfu mode

How To Exit Safe/DFU Mode:

Simply restart or reboot the device. This should bring everything back to normal. The tweaks installed should be visible in the settings menu now.

First of all, chances are the last tweak you installed will be the one you need to remove. However, that’s not always the case, but definitely, a good place to start when searching out problems. Our video below, titled how to enter and exit Safe Mode, will help you better understand how to enter safe mode aka dfu mode.

Hope you found this post helpful. Please thumbs up the video and share it with all your friends. This tip can help save you a lot of trouble. Anytime I have problems this is the first thing I go to for fixing it. This is definitely the simplest way of removing bad tweaks. Especially relevant, remember to Bookmark this post so you may refer back to it in the future should you need to remember how to get your device Safe Mode aka DFU mode.

Things you should know about pirated apps or tweaks

Hoax: Many people who jailbreak are under the impression pirated tweaks are compatible when the true version states ‘not compatible with this version of iOS”. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Chances are that’s why you are getting this loop or problem you are having now.Pirated tweaks can break your jailbreak at any time and eventually will.  Many of the pirated tweaks are cracked by persons who are not developers.  They only try to crack apps for purposes of high traffic.  I do not consider these people to be “developers” by any means.  These same people will install harmful ads or trackers into the app to follow where you go and such.  So be very careful which repo’s you get cracked apps from.

Once you have entered Safe mode or DFU Mode you may downgrade, restore, or remove bad tweaks.  You are now able to get back to betting on your favorite team directly from your iOS device. Nowadays, users can bet directly from the iPhone from any location.

This post is really interesting, but why it is on 12th place in google’s search results.

It deserves to be in top 5. Many webmasters think
that seo is dead in 2016, but it’s not true. There is sneaky
method to reach google’s top 5 that not many people know.

[…] Safe Mode is a way Apple has helped upkeep from destroying our devices.  When iOS devices first released around 2007 it was possible to install bad tweaks or themes that would damage the internal software so badly it was called “Bricking” the device.  This actually meant the device was no longer usable in any way other than as a paper weight or brick, hence the term “Brick”.  Now that’s not the case.  We can now have our devices thrown into a “Safe Mode” which something like a crash cycle for it.  This is where the substrate is disabled which includes all the extensions such as themes, tweaks but allowing you access to them for removing any unwanted or problematic tweaks or themes to uninstall the packages which could have caused the crash.
