
5 Things Users Should Know about Apples New File System (APFS)
There seem to be a lot of buzz about the new Apple File System (APFS). It seems only fair to the users downloading this to understand what they getting on their devices. It does seem to really improve the storage space issue. You may really be able to gain some much-needed storage space especially if you are using a 16 GB or 32 GB device.
5 Things Users Should Know about Apples New File System (APFS)
- Flash Storage Optimized – In case you didn’t know Apple devices use Flash storage. This helps increase the speed of the device and much more. It helps increase the amount of time it takes to save and read items on their devices hard drive. That’s about all you need to know so we don’t have to get too technical.
- Free Flowing Partitions – This only affects Mac users and the way storage space is utilized such as partition space. It can change the way it claims space in different partitions.
- Encryption – Most users know this refers to security. APFS is designed with Encryption as its primary focus making it extremely well secure.
- APFS for Mac is still in Beta currently. Although, the iOS version is live and seems to be doing a fantastic job improving iOS as a whole. APFS on the iOS device is a closed system. Duh, why you think we have the jailbreak, right?? On their Mac its open system so it could have more issues. It’s hoped we get the issues resolved in beta before it ever goes public and this could be the reason it wasn’t released together.
5. HFS+ supported 32-bit file IDs. (APFS) supports up to 64-bit. This means Apple is future proofing their devices. The new APFS is designed to be used across all the iOS devices. Users can look for many new updates in the new future.
