Apple’s New APFS in iOS 10.3 update can reclaim as much as 7.8GB of available storage
Please understand updating to iOS 10.3 will most likely diminish any hopes for a future Jailbreak. There have never been hopes for iOS 10.3 Jailbreak. If you plan to never jailbreak you may want to look at the new iOS 10.3 update. It actually makes a way to gain storage space by updating to iOS 10.3.
Apple released iOS 10.3 recently which has brought some much-needed updates such as the new Apple File System (APFS). It also has the new Find My AiriPod headphones Feature built into the firmware now. Apple apparently has high hopes for millions of users to use the new headphones with the new included Find My AirPods headphones feature built directly into the firmware.
Anyway, we have stumbled upon a way new iOS 10.3 users will actually gain storage space just by upgrading to iOS 10.3. Storage space is extremely important for 16 GB and 32 GB users especially. This new upgrade can help increase the amount of storage space available on the device.
As with most new iOS upgrade or updates, it seems there’s always a sacrifice of storage space. They seem to get larger and larger with the amount of storage space needed to upgrade to each new firmware.

How To Increase Storage on iOS 10.3 Device
iOS 10.3 has made adjustments this time through the new APFS (APFS) with an APFS has significantly changed the manner of how it formats the drives and uses storage space as a whole. The gain in storage space was first spotted by Apple Insider. Apple Insider has stated through their test some devices reclaimed up to as much as 7.8 GB of available storage just by updating to iOS 10.3.
This sounds to me like the new iOS 10.3 firmware change through the APFS has found new ways to format the drives and use storage space in a much more efficient manner.
Please be forewarned the new update is a lengthy process of 30-50 minutes at best on the best WiFi connections. This means it can take a really long time to update to iOS 10.3. So if your WiFi connection is slower you may be looking up to 1.5 hrs to upgrade. However, we do think it will be worth the wait.
