With less than 24 hours until Apple’s press event, the Flint Center is taking security to “unprecedented levels” says Cult of Mac editor Leander Kahney who’s been taking some interviews with security surrounding the venue.
According to Kahney’s report, Apple the events entire 2,400-seated auditorium has been secured with a sophisticated security system to prevent unwanted leaks ahead of the event.
24-hour security personnel are tasked to do thorough searches on every staffers phone for unauthorized pictures or messages. They are also covering every staffers phone with special tape, which, if removal of the tape is attempted, will change color.
“We were told that we should erase anything embarrassing from our phones because security will be going through them with a fine-tooth comb,” said one. “If it changes color, we’ll be fired on the spot,” said another.
The building across from the Flint Center is still a mystery. Nobody’s really sure what it will be used for. It could be a demo house for use with HomeKit, or a cat-walk fashion show stage for the iWatch.

Kahney believes Apple has flown in a special construction team from the U.K. to work on the exterior of the building “for many days.” The building is “strictly off limits” to anyone without proper authorization.
“There are no communications in or out,” another staffer said. “Everyone thinks Apple is tapping our phones and monitoring what we say. Everyone is super-paranoid.”
While Tim Cook and Co. are working on beefing up security, Apple’s homepage will now redirect you to their live-streaming page.
Live-streaming the press conference requires Safari 5.1.10 or later on OS X 10.6.8 or later, or Safari on iOS 6.0 or later. Streaming is also possible through the second and third-generation Apple TV with the Apple TV Software 6.2 or later.
If the past is any indication, Apple will not be streaming the press conference to Windows PC’s that have the QuickTime plugin installed.
The event kicks off tomorrow at 10AM PST. We will be remotely covering the event, as well as provide our opinions and analysis throughout the day so keep checking in on iPhone Captain.
