Apple Passcode

Yesterday, we reported about the issue several Australian Mac and iOS users dealt with on their devices. Referring to the hack created by a certain Oleg Pliss, there is a rising concern over how safe our iCloud accounts are. If you are worried about the safety of your account and how you can avoid getting affected by the hack, here are a few tips on how you can ensure a more secure device:

Use Different Passwords

One of the easiest ways you can avoid encountering an attack on your accounts is to make use of unique passwords on each. If an attacker gets the password of your iCloud account, he won’t be able to access your Facebook or Gmail account as long as you use a different password on it. If you use the same password on each account, however, you may put your accounts at a higher risk.

Make Use of the Two-Factor Authentication

Nowadays, there are plenty of web services that add an extra layer of security before you get access to your account. Using the two-factor authentication, you are able to promote the security of your online account. When you use this security step, you need to enter a time-sensitive code after you have logged in. As of the moment, the authentication step is only available in a few websites such as Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, and Apple ID.

Add a Touch ID or a Passcode on Your Device

If you still haven’t activated your device’s Touch ID or passcode service, it’s high time that you do. This way, you can prevent malicious users from gaining a remote access to your device and lock you out. Devices with a Touch ID or passcode cannot be remotely locked compared to unprotected ones.

Protect your iOS device by using these tips. This way, you don’t have to worry about hackers like Oleg Pliss gaining remote access to your iCloud account.
