Battery Saver: Extend Your Battery Life

Battery Saver is another battery saving tweak developed by KS Mobile. It can be used as an alternative tweak to BattSaver. This app does not deal with automatic power saving but it regulates the manner in which you charge your iDevice in three simple steps. This app provides you with lot of features in which it does all the calculation on how you can use the remaining charge and how long will it take before it gets depleted.

Installing this tweak doesn’t add a preference pane to your Settings menu but adds an icon on the homescreen, more like an installed app. When you tap on it, you’ll get the main screen as shown in the picture below. The first big rectangular tab shows the remaining power and how long will it last ( as in the picture is 55% + the remaining time).

Beneath the big rectangular tab are many options. The first feature it has is it displays the memory (RAM) usage of your device. Tapping on it will run a process of “reallocating” by making your iDevice work faster and freeing up more space. The second feature displays the availability of your iDevice capacity. However some “Junk” files are created by various applications that are used once and disposed in iDevice storage drive. If these files are available, clicking on this second feature identifies these “Junk” files and deletes them to make up space for you. The third feature is the Optimize option. Tapping on it shows a detail information on how disabling the radio networks and reduced brightness extend your battery life (displays the extension in hours and minutes).

Another feature that is interesting is that it shows which apps are currently using your battery power and which apps are draining the power rapidly. It also shows the unused apps and system files using the battery power. The last feature is it display the remaining hours of battery power. Tapping on it shows a detail information on how you can use the remaining battery power. That is it shows how long will it take for the battery to deplete its power if you continuously surf internet using wi-fi with current remaining power. That is what makes this app stands out from the other battery saving tweaks or apps.

One tip it provides is that once connected to a charger, it ask you to keep the Battery Saver app running on the foreground as it will ensure that you will have an ever lasting battery power. That is it goes into a sort of saving strategy, looking for best way to charge the battery without reducing its lifetime.

This tweak is by far more informative then any other tweaks I have tried out. It helps you by giving tips, alerts and information on how you can best use your battery without ever running out of power or minimize your usage to exhibit an extended battery life.

If you want to try it out, it is available on Cydia for free.
