DockWare is a recently released tweak that brings a new concept and idea to cydia and jailbreak community. As usual, whenever an application was launched, the iOS dock would become invisible in other words gone “behind” the application therefore making it inaccessible. DockWare changes this idea and concept and does the opposite, in this case the Dock is visible on every application.

DockWare

Once you have installed this tweak, a preference pane is displayed in the setting menu where you can configure it’s features. Knowing the features that are offered by this tweak, it comes to mind asking ourself what if we don’t want the dock to be visible on the screen because it is disturbing the view or simply doesn’t looks good on the current application? DockWare has given this a thought and has added an activation method.

In the preference pane, the “Global” pane allows you to enable the DockWare in the apps, select the activation method/gestures and setting the autohide time.  The “Home” panel allows you to configure the looks and concept of the Dock on the home screen. It allows you to enable or disable DockWare from the home screen, select from 3 different animations for displaying the dock. The reason for these animation is to allow the remaining icons on the home screen to take up the space which was once reserved for the stock iOS dock.

The last panel is “Advanced” settings allows the user to blacklist the applications. This mean, listing the applications on the black list will disable the DockWare features on those applications. This has been offered because for some applications such feature doesn’t looks good at all or simply is disturbing.

Overall, the capability offered by DockWare is non-essentials. The reason why I dislike it is because, first of all the screen of the iPhone is really small and adding this features makes it difficult to read and view the contents on screen. On other hand some simple do like the idea of the dock being visible on every application and hiding automatically. The features are functional but it gets a little weird when using it.

If you find DockWare to be interesting, head over to Cydia and download it. It is prices at $1.99.

Here is our short video demonstration of Dockware. Be sure you watch it and Happy Sharing.
