If you’re a fan of playing MMO strategy games on your iPhone device, Game of War: Fire Age is one that will keep you playing for hours or until your phone runs out of battery juice. Created by Machine Zone, Inc., Game of War iOS app is exactly the social life you need when you’re not in the mood to be actually– sociable. Through your iPhone, you can interact with people hooked to the game; which is created on a framework very similar to other multiplayer mobile strategy games before it.
In Game of War, you take the character of a King who’s trying to build a powerful kingdom of his own. The problem is– every other player is doing the same thing so you can just imagine how chaotic the game can be. On the home front, you need to build and upgrade structures as much as you can. You can also assign some of your comrades to gather valuable resources (stone, wood, silver, ore, and food). The other group of people can be assigned to research new technologies or to produce troops to defend your kingdom. See, everyone in your kingdom has a job to fulfill and it is up to you to decide what that is. Since every task requires the use of resources and time, you will need to replenish this as much as you can.
Considering you’re battling other kingdoms, you will need to prepare your defensive structure, traps, and military troops. You can even attack other cities so you can dominate the kingdom. The good thing about the game is that you can level up your hero unit to lead your army. You can even have armor and weaponry specially crafted for his quest in protecting your kingdom.
While there are some players who you may want to fight against, you can still opt to forge alliances with other empires. This way, you can boost your resources and even speed up your building projects. You even have the ability to chat with other players so you can discuss the next strategy, no matter what language they speak.
Unfortunately, Game of War: Fire Age feels just like another city building game with a chat option. Not to mention, playing the game on your iPhone will produce a screen jammed with icons and information that may just be too much for you to choose at any minute. Perhaps, it’s much better to play on an iPad?
Game of War may be revolutionary by providing a chat feature that translates other people’s languages but at the end of the day, it still lacks motive and enjoyment. If you’re not tired of playing city building games, why not give Game of War: Fire Age another go?
You can download Game of War iOS app from the App Store for free. It is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices running on iOS 5.0 or later.
