Broken phones are expensive and inconvenient. Save your investment from a freak accident by avoiding these crazy ways that people have broken their phones.
Ever had a shattered phone screen? You’re not the only one.
In fact, 50% of people have had one at least once. Mostly, this is because they’ve simply dropped it by accident.
However, there are lots of other strange ways in which people have broken phones. Read on for a few examples.
The Worst Stories About Broken Phones
Ever broken your phone in a ridiculous way? These stories will make you feel better about yourself.
1. Leaving it on the Roof of a Car
We’ve all been there. You’re walking to your car with your phone in one hand, and grocery bags, a cup of coffee, or maybe even your child in the other.
Before you can open the car door, one of them has got to go. To free up one hand, lots of people choose to rest their phone on top of their car. This is fine until they forget to grab it before they get inside.
As soon as they drive away, the phone slides off and smashes on the road. If they’re particularly unlucky, it gets run over by other cars, too.
2. Dropping it in the Toilet
This one’s not exactly crazy, but it is a little embarrassing.
A word of advice: never leave your phone in your back pocket when you go to the bathroom!
As soon as you pull your pants down, you can expect it to slip out and fall directly into the toilet. If that doesn’t do it, it’s likely to fall out when you’re pulling them back up, before you’ve had a chance to flush. Then, you’re faced with the unpleasant task of sticking your hand into the water, along with whatever else is in there, to fish out your phone.
This doesn’t have to be the end of your device, though! You can avoid having a water-damaged iPhone by protecting it with an iPhone 7 Waterproof Case.
3. Using it to Play Fetch
Fetch may not seem like a game that takes a whole lot of coordination, but if you’re holding your phone in your hand, you may be surprised.
Too many people have mindlessly swung a throw for their dog, only to see their phone flying through instead of the ball.
4. Frying it
In a bizarre experiment, one man decided to deep fry his iPhone in a pot of 800° oil, just to see what would happen. He even filmed it in slow motion for the world to see.
We’re not sure the warranty will cover that one.
5. The Element of Surprise
Sometimes, our reflexes betray us.
You’d think that if someone or something took you by surprise, you’d defend yourself. For some people, that’s not the case.
Instead, some people react by throwing or dropping their phones. It’s not much of a defense tactic, especially for the poor shattered phone.
Better Safe than Sorry!
If you’re a little clumsy, do some damage control.
To avoid always having broken phones, get yourself a heavy-duty protective case.
Unfortunately, you can’t guarantee that they’ll always do the trick. But if you can’t save your phone, you can always save your data.
