As many of you may be aware by now, the recent update released for Apple TV makes PlexConnect, a hack that allows you to run Plex on your non-jailbroken Apple TV, incompatible with your Apple TV. Dont worry folks, Paul Kehrer who is the developer of PlexConnect has posted a detailed tutorial on his website explaining how you can run the hack on your Apple TV again . This time its not as easy to install as it was before but still it gets the hack running if you follow the tutorial carefully. You can check out the tutorial here.
To fix it here is what you will need!
- Apple Configurator (10.7+ Mac only. There’s also an iPhone Configuration Utility that can be used if you’re on Windows or 10.6 Snow Leopard)
- A microUSB cable to attach to your AppleTV
- Updated PlexConnect software (follow the instructions carefully!)
For folks who dont know what Plex is, Ill make it clear . It’s a media player that allows you to manage and play video, photos, music, and podcasts from a local or remote computer running Plex Media Server. And more interesting is the fact that your Apple TV doesnt need to be jailbroken .
