Calling and Facetiming has never been easier. This tweak adds a speed dial like functionality to the lock screen. The tweak named “PassDial Pro” is developed by Sassoty and allows you to add a contact to a speed dial by assigning a 4 digit passcode.
Now assigning a passcode simply doesn’t mean assigning your actual passcode which you use to unlock your device. You can assign any 4 digit passcode to a contact. The passcode are just little shortcuts to making a phone call. For example if your passcode to unlock your device is 0123, you can assign a contact to 1111. Now on your lockscreen, when you enter 1111, the device starts calling the contact you have assigned to it rather than granting access to your phone.
Once the tweak is installed, you can find the preferences of PassDial Pro in the Settings menu.
As it is seen in the screenshot above, there are two tabs: one for make calls (Phones) and another for facetiming (Facetimes). Now any contact you assign in the phones will directly call the contact when you enter the assigned the code. The same happens in facetime, but once you enter the code it will call the contact as FaceTime calls.
When you want to assign a contact to Phones, tap on the Phones tab. You tap on “Add Number” button, a prompt comes up. In the first row, the contact’s number need to be entered and the second row a 4 digit passcode shortcut needs to be assign that we want to use to call that particular person. When everything is entered, tap on “Save” button. There is also a “Remove Last Entry” button, where once tapped will remove the last entry that has been assigned.
PassDial Pro allows you to add up to 10 contacts for Phones and 10 for FaceTimes along with their respective passcode shortcuts assigned. There is also a free version of this tweak named “PassDial” which basically acts like a trial. The trial allows you to save up to 3 contacts along with the passcodes.
One downside of this tweak is that you have to manually enter the contact’s number and there is no option to allow the user to select the contacts from the built in contact book. On the other hand you have to remember the passcode shortcuts you have assigned to the contacts.
The tweak is available on cydia for $2.00 and it is compatible with both iOS 6 and iOs 7.
