According to ITHome and Sina reports cited by AppleInsider, the 1.33 billion people market have reserved over 2 million iPhones within the first six hours since its opening. Specifically, the gold 64GB models for both devices.
Each model is worth $1,000 USD. Even with the price, the iPhones are still in high demand.
The company stated in a press release yesterday that they will be opening up pre-orders on Friday, October 10. On Tuesday, October 14, Apple will allow online reservations, and in-store pickup. And finally, the new iPhones will be available to Apple Authorized Resellers on Friday, October 17. This includes the three major carriers, China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have modified versions of the device to support TD-LTE and FDD-LTE, the two flavors of fourth-generation Long-Term Evolution (LTE). Which is used as a standard in the Chinese market.
The iPhone 16GB is priced at 5,288 RMB ($861 USD), with the 64 and 128GB models costing 6,088 RMB ($991 USD) and 6,888 RMB ($1122 USD) respectively. The 16/64/128GB iPhone 6 Plus is priced at 6,088/6,888/7,788 RMB ($991/1122/1269 USD).
China is one of the last major markets to get the new iPhones. Apple had over 9 million iPhones during opening weekend, and 4 million iPhones within the first 24 hours.
The new iPhones are still suffering long shipping dates in the United States. It’d be interesting to see how Apple splits its stock to all the different countries.
