Sometimes we may need to block annoying users who text too often or too late. Since iOS 7 released this has been a simple task. Now in iOS 8 the task still works just same as it did in iOS 7. However, we will still walk you though how to block someone from sending iMessages.
How To Block Someone On iMessage (iOS 7 or iOS 8)
- Open Settings
- Scroll down and tap Messages
- Scroll down and tap Blocked
- To add a person to this list, tap on Add New.. option
- Choose the contact you wish to block and tap Done
Have you been blocked by someone. Follow these simple steps to find out if you have been blocked in iOS 7 or iOS 8.
This works great if you keep the contact in your contacts list. However, if you want to remove the contacts name and block them from sending you iMessages or SMS text thats impossible at this time. Unless, you contact your cell carrier and add the name and number to the blacklist. Maybe you didn’t know that was an option. Well, now you do, most cell carriers offer customers access to these type of settings inside their account. If you are unaware how this works I suggest you contact your carrier for details.
There is one more option for not getting iMessages Notifications. Please notice how I worded that sentence. You will continue receiving the iMessages you just won’t be notified when you do. If this is something you would consider following the instructions below.
Remove Contact Name from iPhone Contacts or address book
Go to Settings > Notifications > Messages > scroll down and tap Show Alerts from My Contacts
Now you will only get notifications from persons in your Contacts app or address book. This will prevent unknown numbers from getting notifications. So maybe this will help someone wishing to block while removing names and numbers. If we learn of a new method or Apple adds new features we will update here accordingly.
